Supersize me! Pigs ears just got a whole lot bigger! A huge difference in size, but for the same price!

With Easter fast approaching, a reminder that I'm not here for Bank Holidays! Thursday and Saturday will be normal hours (9am - 5pm), with Late Night Thursday on the 4th April. Deliveroo will be available, as usual, on days I'm open if you need bits but can't get in.

Shark Blades! Cartilage rather than bone, Shark Blades (fin and spine) are a tasty snack. I was surprised by the lack of smell to these, when you open the bag there’s a bit of a pong but it soon dissipates! Ethically sourced, being leftovers that would otherwise be discarded. Meaning every bit gets used up instead and your dog gets a tasty treat!

Freshly released from Customs, Croc Tails! Another great novel protein! As with all products; feedback is welcome (good or bad) as I won’t be keeping the full range of these new Australian products, just the favs! The obligatory videos of the boys tucking in are there if you swipe through. Bob was done in 7 minutes, Archie took a timely 45 minutes. So they’re like a 15-20 minute chew for a normal dog!

For all you fans out there, I present Bob & Archie vs the new Bone Marrow Bars! Bob was straight in there, last pic is the dent he’d made after 15 mins of chewing! Archie (lazy chewer) needed a little encouragement to chew, but settled on a licking technique instead! As they soften with moisture they get a gummy texture; like a Fruit Gum, or American Hard Gum (when they were good, not the modern soft things!) making it easier to scrape bits off but retaining the solid chew! Bob gives a 10/10 Archie says “pass me the Mantis Shrimp”

Bone Marrow Bars! Chicken & Parsley, or Maple Bacon! Think Yak bar but rather than just being hard, they have a slight chew. Like a Drumstick lolly that’s been in the fridge. Meant to be super tough, who’s putting them to the test? Bone Marrow Chews are made in a proprietary process which takes over 6 weeks. It involves both heating and cooling of the marrow, separating and removing almost all of the fat and leaving the incredibly healthy marrow which is set, without chemicals or fillers. This is an in-depth process and is protected by patent. 100% Australian Beef Bone Marrow + .5-3% of the ingredient(s) listed in the name.

I’ve sent so many of you off to supermarkets to get pumpkin puree before, I now have in Pumpkin Powder! 100% pumpkin and shelf stable, so you can mix it up as and when you need it! Great for tummy upsets (firming up diarrhoea, or helping get things moving if they’re constipated), a source of fibre to help keep those anal glands healthy, as well being rich in vitamin and antioxidants! Can be sprinkled on their food dry, or hydrated it works well as a topper or for stuffing toys / lick mats!

Yeasty dogs rejoice, there's a new product to help fight yeast and fungal infections! Itchy ears and cheesy paws are a thing of the past with ProPythium, a totally natural product! Easy to use (and you only need a small amount), I have the ear cleaner and topical oil in to combat most problems. I've popped the blurby-bit below for you that explains, in detail, what is it and how it works. First discovered by researchers investigating how roots protected themselves in the soil, Pythium oligandrum is a microscopic algae that works via mycoparasitism. It uses other fungi for sustenance and survival. It attacks those organisms, extracting nutrients such as nitrogen, carbon, and nutrients for reproduction, and killing the organism in the process. It then creates zoospores that actively seek out more of that fungi and it’s spores. Beyond mycoparasitism, Pythium further secretes enzymes that aid its consumption of fungi but also curb bacterial growth so they are not disturbed in the process. Once resources deplete, Pythium oligandrum encapsulates and soon leaves its host, at which point normal microflora returns.

Mantis Shrimp! Part of the new Australian range. A tasty, crunchy crustacean that your dog will love! Once again, the boys have done a taste test for us. Archie was a willing participant… I’ve included the video of Bob, but he couldn’t quite contain himself (shows you the kind of shiz I have to put up with with him 😂). There’s a pic at the end of a live mantis shrimp too, because they’re stunning and fascinate me. As their name suggests, they have front legs like a praying mantis that move so fast they knock out their prey and cause a cavitation bubble (a mini vacuum). A hit so hard, if kept in aquariums, they’re able to break glass! Worth a search on YouTube!

Two very different styles of eating… but Crocodile Legs are a winner with both! Bob was done in about half an hour, then spent 10 minutes clearing up. Archie is still going strong an hour later!

As grass starts to grow its fresh spring shoots it makes it more vulnerable to lawn burn, starting now means any fresh shoots stand the best chance of avoiding the burn! New toys! Repurposed rubber that makes a great tug toy, and most dogs go crazy for them! Any guesses what their original use was before ending up at the shop?

Quail eggs are back in stock! If you won’t use them all or just want some for emergencies, I’ve been testing out freezing them and they freeze quite well in the shells! Just a little crack in the shell but not the membrane (so they don’t leak when you defrost them)

It’s now dusky by the time we walk in the evening so I’ve dusted off the @miromakauri silicone blinkers, put fresh batteries in and we’re good to go! These are my favourite lights for smaller dogs. They wrap around collars or harnesses easily, and hold on snug so aren’t easily lost! I like using two; white on the chest so you can see if they’re running away or towards you, then a coloured one on their back so I can see who’s who! If you have some you bought last year and need the battery replaced, pop in and I’ll do it for you! Don’t forget the flashing collars are still on sale for the rest of this month if you prefer those! Other reasons to have a white light on their chest: • they look like Iron Man dogs • they’re little lamps for them to see where they’re sniffing (and they light up the path really well if you forget a torch!) • two walking side by side look like the headlights of a tiny car to any on-comers • white on their chest and blue on their back makes them look like a mini police bike

New trial product… Crate Lick Mats! Rigid plastic so they hold their shape with the rubber inner for anything that goes on a standard lick mat (I’ve a whole section of patés, pastes etc!) The suction cups will keep it in place on any flat surface, or use the lock to secure it to the side of a crate!

For many a time of dread, firework season is approaching! Public displays start from the 27th October locally, I’ve not seen any others advertised for earlier yet. I have a range of products in to help your little ones through! Some need to be built up in their system so now is the time to start! All natural, no nasties, but effective calming options!

From little acorns mighty oaks grow! Have you tried microwaving the Yak bars yet? If you can’t wait for the end piece to pop in the microwave, the tiny yak bars are a great option! Not super long lasting, but nice and scrapy to help clean those teeth! Just soak in water for a minute (this is a new revelation!). Pop in the microwave for 1 minute. Watch it puff up! Give it a good 10 minutes to cool down before giving to your dog, and if it’s too big then a bread knife makes quick work of it! (Sound on for the video! 😂)

Porky bones are back! The popular 3 knuckle pack for the smaller dogs Half ham bones for the bigger dogs And a new XL half ham bone for the bigguns! Cured not dried, so maintain their moisture. Serve from the fridge (or freezer) for a lovely cold meaty chew while it’s hot!

New colour treat pouches? Go on then! For the paté lovers or haters of pocket crumbs! Silicone so easy to wash, easy to open and magnetic closer so nothing falls out! (Lighting in the shop doesn’t do then justice, they are BRIGHT even to my dodgy colourblind eyes!)

More Mr Slobberchops! Psyllium Husks are a soluble dietary fibre. These naturally occurring husks can absorb ten times their own weight in water so will add bulk to your dog’s stools and in turn aid both constipation or diarrhoea. Just mix with water to make a gel and add to food! French Green Clay is great at helping open wounds scab over that are difficult to bandage. A natural insect repellent often found in natural flea powders keeps flies away from open wounds. Sprinkle dry on wet wounds to help them scab, or make a paste with olive oil to help moisturise! • Wet wounds • Hot spots • Tail pockets • Itchy paws • Ears

Quail eggs now in! Raw, wet or dry fed; all dogs can reap the benefits of raw eggs! (that's right, don't cook them!) Quail eggs are the perfect size for portioning, and the shells are thinner so more dogs are likely to eat them. Mix them with food, crack them and place in their bowl or just give them whole and see what they get up to! Eggs are one of the most complete sources available of amino acids, packed with protein, a powerhouse of nutrition! • Vitamin A • B12 • Folate • Iron • Selenium • Linoleic acid • Riboflavin • Fatty acids Feed the shells too! Egg shell is rich in Collagen, Chondroitin, Hyaluronic acid & Glucosamine. They’re naturally binding, so can help in times of upset stomachs, just lightly scramble them so they’re still wet.

Fleas & Ticks? Not on my watch with Mr Slobberchops! I've added some more ranges to the pest ranges (all natural and no nasties, obviously!). Business as usual this week. Next Monday (28th August) is a Bank Holiday though, so as always I’ll be closed! Normally after a Bank Holiday it’s a late night, but the end of the month is just on the cusp so Septembers late night will be on the 7th! All back to normal Tuesday!
